The storage, rake and delivery system including the air cooler for storage cooling are completely installed inside of a 40-ft. high cube container as well as the integrated ice rake hoist assembly moving the ice rake up and down. It is ideal for storing KTI - flake ice which has an average density of 550 kg / m.

Optionally the same system can be installed inside a standard 40-ft container, however the storage capacity is limited to 18 tons (CIS.3-18).

The containerized ice storage easily can be handled and transported - means it can be taken to any other place later on if required.

Standard construction features:
  • walls, floor and ceiling insulated with 60 mm PUR (polyurethane) foam panels, both sides covered with coated sheet metal
  • floor reinforced with heavy plywood
  • areas covered with ice protected with galvanized sheet metal
  • air guiding channels in the floor and the length walls
  • door in back side for access to air cooling unit and to drive of the ice rake
  • hatch in the front side for access to bin door and for control of ice discharge
  • sufficient lighting
  • opening in ceiling for ice inlet, size made according to the ice plant used
  • heavy duty hoist assembly for moving the ice rake upwards (for loading) and downwards (for ice discharge) installed inside the ice storage
  • heavy duty ice rake, hot dip galvanized, for ice distribution in the store and to transport ice to the outlet
  • extended reversable discharge screw conveyor (4 m), located underneath container avoiding clogging of bin door during closing
  • 2 ice outlets on the reversable ice discharge screw conveyor
  • slide gate (pneumatically operated) mounted at one of the 2 ice outlets, delivered separately - installed on site underneath the discharge screw conveyor
  • refrigeration unit for ice storage cooling (room temperature appr. -5C)
  • switch board (eventually incoperated in main switch board of flake ice plant) and remote control
  • outside painting of the container in white to reflect sun radiation
  • slide gate on second ice outlet of discharge screw conveyor for bagging of ice or loading trucks
  • delivery screw conveyors outside of the storage container, horizontally and inclining, length up to approx. 45 meters (135 feet), feading for example
  • day tanks, storing 2 to 5 tons of ice for short periods of time
  • ice weighing hoppers, weighing capacity 150 to 500 kg, charged directly by delivery screw conveyor, day tank or a screw conveyor between day tank and ice weighing hopper
  • blowing stations for pneumatical transport
The ice storage and delivery container has to be installed on columns or strip foundations made of concrete or steel. at the place and in the height required for the demands of the batching plant. The design of the foundation depends on the type of batching plant. To reach the access door and the hatch stairs and platforms with railing are necessary. Steel foundations including stairs, railings and platforms are available from KTI upon request. Optionally another 40-ft container can be used as support supplied by KTI holding an insulated cold water tank inside. The refrigeration unit for storage cooling and the switch board are to be installed at a suitable place. After connection to the power supply and to the cooling water - and installing the ice making plant of course - the ice storage and delivery container is ready to use.
